‘Het bijzondere van het alledaagse’ (The extraordinary in the everyday): an exhibition about the various expansion neighborhoods in the municipality of Houten.
Compiled and written by Jutta Hinterleitner. Commissioned by Centrum Makeblijde and the municipality of Houten (Utrecht).
Centrum Makeblijde, an exhibition space in Houten, consists entirely of glass walls. It is not easy to set up an informative exhibition there without placing furniture or walls.
I solved this problem by having all the information — both text and images — printed on fabric, which was then made into roller blinds.
To add variety, separate the different areas, and create unity at the same time, colorful roller blinds were hung between the text banners. This created a warm, homely feeling and provided a nice contrast to the sleek exhibition building.
The opening was unique: the person who performed the opening could roll out the information by lowering the blinds!
